Event Summary | Encouraging pupils to write can be a challenge. During this course we will explore a range of ideas for inspiring pupils to write for different audiences and purposes and in a range of genres. |
||||||
Event description | Feedback from teachers after the recent lockdowns is that many of their pupils did little or no writing during the school closures. This has lead to an increased number of pupils working below age related expectations in writing. In addition the gap between non disadvantaged and disadvantaged pupils has widened significantly. During this course we will explore a range of practical ideas for encouraging pupils to write in a range of genre and for a variety of audiences. We will consider how we can inspire and motivate pupils to write to the best of their ability and in a way which will engage their audience. We will also examine the role of choice and the importance of providing opportunities for pupils to write freely. The session will cover fiction, non fiction and poetry writing. |
